My students will no longer be confined to a hard student chair. They will be able to focus on direct instruction in their seat since we are no longer allowed to move around the room. Many of the students are struggling to behave, participate, and feel comfortable in a typical classroom setting. They will be able to sit comfortably, wiggle around, and still practice social distancing in the classroom. Some of the behaviors I am witnessing are the inability to sit still in a classroom chair while social distancing, attend to the teacher for long periods of time, be able to self-regulate their emotions, and work cooperatively in a Covid restricted classroom. These are the SEL competencies (or standards) that will be promoted through this purchase and are approved throughout the entire school district: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, and Responsible Decision-Making Students who have flexible seating have a higher level of engagement, lower levels of anxiety, and become much more focused during work time. Students will be socially distanced while completing their work in a comfortable, flexible seat.
