In today’s world, more and more jobs are being taken over by robots and computers. Society is starting to demand different skills than needed for the majority of the 20th century. However, the US education system did not really change since the beginning of the industrial age. At High Tech High, we have taken a completely new approach with the goal of better preparing students for the contemporary world. We are hoping to teach “soft skills” to help students become citizens capable of innovative thinking. Thank you for your support in this mission.
My goal is to have a classroom where all needs are met, helping the students be in a place ready to grow and learn. Each item has been intentionally chosen to help me build my first classroom with durable items made to last.
Flexible Seating: give students the ability to sit in a spot where they learn best
Library Space: a comfortable place to browse through books and read
Cozy Corner: a calming spot where students can take a break, unwind, and get to a place where they are ready to learn
Math & STEM Manipulatives: the more ways I am able to teach and engage my students, the better! I want to be prepared with open-ended materials to challenge students in engineering and science activities
Cleaning Supplies: help students learn what goes into maintaining a clean and productive space. Students will rotate through various jobs learning about responsibility allowing them to take ownership in our classroom
Art & Office Supplies: materials to differentiate and create with my students
