These items are to assist my students with tactile, auditory and visual calming techniques, to learn to self soothe. I would like the chewy necklaces and fidget toys, and sensory table for the students who have to learn to sooth and regulate their emotions with tactile input. The compression vests are often used for students who require pressure to calm and this gives them a way to put on an item and learn to regulate what they need without asking for someone to physically place pressure on them. The lights are there for students who are over stimulated by the large florescent lights of a classroom, the softer light of the room helps them to stay calm and not overwhelmed. The listening center items are for students who like to hear people speaking over and over. In the classroom we minimize speech for those who are overwhelmed but this gives others a place for sounds. The same with the white noise machine. The pillows and rug are for students who need alternative seating due to physical restrictions and low muscle tone when they might not be able to stay in a chair. The mosquito netting and teepee provide a place for the students to be when they need a safe place to calm but can still be part of the class.
