The materials that I have requested will be used every single day in my math classroom. Whiteboards, erasers, and markers will be used to conduct quick and informative "checks for understanding", which allow me to assess each student's understanding of the material. This tells me whether my whole class is ready to move on with the material or whether they need more practice. Whiteboards will also be a great resource, along with the page protectors, when I pull my students for small group lessons. Small group time allows me to work with a select group of individuals who may need a little more help and encouragement, while the rest of their classmates can continue working independently or in student-lead groups. All of my students love writing on whiteboards, which make them an easy and effective way to engage them in their learning! Highlighters, red pens, and calculators will also be used daily to help students monitor their growth. Binder tabs are going to be helpful in teaching my students how to organize their class work, notes, data trackers and more! With these basic materials and hands-on engagement materials, it will be easier for my students to take ownership of their learning and become positive members of our community. Unfortunately, many of the families of my students struggle to supply them with the supplies we use every day. Therefore, I'd love to take the pressure off of my students to find the means to get these supplies into my classroom, and allow them to focus on their learning and growth! My students and I thank you!
