The scanner, shredder, and laminator will allow for me to be more present and available to my students before, during, and after-school. As a special education teacher, I am constantly uploading signature pages and shredding confidential documents. Currently this is done in the office where there is only one shredder and 2 copy machines for over 200 teachers, meaning that much of my time is spent waiting in line for an action that only requires a few minutes. By donating to this project, you will help me be more available to the students who need my support the most. If I am not in my classroom when they come by, my students tend to take it personal as to why I was not there. Rather than waiting in line at the office, my time is better spent in my classroom, connecting with and assuring those students that I am truly there for them. With time and dedication, I believe I can better help them see their full academic potential, especially in math. Since this will be the start of just my second year, my supply of resources is limited. The chart paper will allow me to create anchor charts emphasizing the big concepts of the chapter/units. As my students are challenged with understanding the relationships between positive and negative integers, the number line will allow them to have a visual reference to assist them with performing the calculations properly. A binder is a simple but effective way to maintain organization, but many of my students lack even basic materials. Though I have a class set of Chromebooks, I do not have a set of headphones.
