My Kindergarten and 1st Grade students are developing a love of books and are filled with excitement when they hear it's time to read. There is something magical about watching a child learn to read and grow in their confidence as a reader. As teachers, we are fortunate enough to witness this process on a daily basis. Instilling a love of books and reading is something we aim to do everyday. One of our favorite types of reading is Buddy Reading where students read books with a partner. Buddy Reading encourages students to take on the role of the reader and the role of the coach. Students share their favorite books with one another as they build reading fluency and decoding skills. My school works over time to provide a positive academic, social, and emotional environment for our children. We believe one of the best ways to do this is to provide ample opportunities for all children to have equal access to the best teachers and the best books!
