I am a first-year teacher and I am starting from scratch. I need the essentials for my classroom so that it can function and flow the way I have envisioned. I have a few things like pencils, sticky notes, legal pads, and a whistle but I know I'm going to need much more than that to run my classroom efficiently. Being a long-term substitute, I learned the essentials needed in a classroom. I struggled so much from not having the small things at hand while in the classroom with students. I remember at one point having a student with chronic nosebleeds and never having enough Kleenex. It was a nightmare trying to calm everyone down once they saw how bad her nose looked, and if I had more supplies I don't think it would've been such a scene. I hope to be able to purchase some essentials, but this is my wish list.
