Our classroom is at its best when I am circulating, checking on student work, and using proximity for some super-energetic kids. Having an iPad in the classroom would make it much easier for me to circulate the room and for students to have the opportunity to use technology to share their own work, giving them voice and vision in the curriculum. I can use an app to connect the iPad to the smartboard so that anyone can "write" on the board from anywhere in the room. Some students don't feel comfortable getting up in front of the class to write out their work. Others are differently abled and have limited access to standing in front of the room to display work, so being able to do it from their seat would open access to class discussion and debate for them. In addition to allowing students to show their work, it will allow me to give immediate feedback to students who would not otherwise participate or who waits until class is over to turn in their work because of the fear of being wrong. Together, these supplies will make our classroom an active learning space where students are able to express themselves through their individual learning style!
