Students in 5th grade in my district take ukelele lessons in music class. I would like to continue that at the Middle and High School Level but I do not have the instruments to do so! I want to incorporate it as co-curricular and an extra-curricular activity. This would take place in my 7th and 8th grade general music classes and as an after school club for anyone in the district to come have some fun! I want the purpose of these instruments to be for students who may not have an interest in band or choir but still have a love of music! I have quite of few of High School students who have expressed an interest in uke and they play my personal one all the time. They would love to have a club where we can talk about music in a a way that we do not normally during school hours. We can play music that they listen to and like in hopes of taking more of an interest. I would also love to talk about song writing and using the ukelele to help them do so!
