When each student has a book of his/her own, it gives them a sense of ownership and responsibility. When a student has a book of his/her own, it can be marked in, kept, and learned from. Refugee by Alan Gratz is a great book to dig into because of the situation in the United States with people fleeing their homelands. Student will learn this is not a new problem: it has been going on for years. However, we need help! This is a required book for students to read, but they cannot read if they do not have a book.
