I am a fourth year special education teacher at a K-8 school in New York City. I have taught special education in the third, seventh and eighth grades. This year, I will be teaching the sixth grade for the first time. I will be teaching Math, Social Studies, Reading and Writing. All of my students live in a low income community. Once they go home, they stay indoors all evening, since it's too dangerous to play outside. My students are extremely sensitive and love to learn. Unfortunately, many of my students this year will not be able to experience the excitement of getting new school supplies. I work in a school where many students receive free or reduced school lunch. Some of my students are also English language learners. Many families work very hard to provide for their children, but they just don't have enough funds to buy new school supplies. This is why I am turning to donors choose.org for your support
