My students have proved that, when they can choose where they want to work, they are more productive and engaged. Right now, their seating options include the floor, their desk, or standing up, but with bean bags and wobble chairs their options are endless! Student engagement is the key to their success. In addition to flexible seating options for my students, I want to give them books that better reflect their backgrounds and life experiences. Books about black and Muslim culture, not only give students a chance to see themselves in our materials but also teach us as educators more about the student we love. Flexible seating allows students to take control of their learning and engagement, just one thing my students are craving after another crazy pandemic year.
