We all come from somewhere. We live in different communities with diverse beliefs, celebrations, and cultures. The books I chose will not only expose students to diverse cultures but will allow some students to see themselves in the stories. Books allow children to experience life other than their own. That's why these books are essential. They will help students grow and become accepting of others as well as opening their eyes to the diverse world of culture that surrounds them. As children read, they will first learn and later remember what they have read. Reading culturally diverse books leads children to expand their thinking like never before.
