Students require a modified classroom curriculum and structure in my room. We are requesting a carpet, organizers, space bundles and a table. By helping them feel comfortable and providing them with appropriate workspace, they can find safety and security in the classroom. They can be their caring selfs. Sitting on the floor and sharing learning with others is not always a comfortable situation for my students. The reality is they need supports for their physical needs. They need a cushion with a back. They need a surface they can comfortably write on. I want to give them the flexibility to learn where they feel comfortable, to sit on the floor comfortably, and to collaborate with a teacher or group at a table designed for that type of learning.
