My philosophy as a teacher is to implement modern technology and tools into my lessons to connect to modern learners. Students now relate to technology more than they do a traditional textbook or worksheet. In order for learning to have the most impact, students need to feel understood and believe that we have their interests and ideas in mind when we plan our lessons for them. Technology in the modern classroom has the ability to inspire and empower students. In order for technology implementation to be authentic, it needs to be used regularly and meaningfully. Consistent access to technology is something that is difficult for my classroom. We have community technology that is shared with all classrooms in the school, but one teacher cannot monopolize those tools. In order for me to regularly implement technology in my classroom, I need to have consistent access to materials. This is why I have decided to reach out and ask for donations to help supply my classroom with tablets to enhance my students' learning. An example of a way we will utilize the tablets is with online lab simulations through PHET. Students can experiment with the effects of heat on molecule movement, how the angles of skateboard ramps can affect the transfer of energy, and how adding variations to a population can improve their chance of survival in the wild. We also use many online tools that help to reinforce difficult topics and provide study tools for students such as Quizlet, Kahoot, Quizizz, BrainPop, Flocabulary, I-Excel and many more. The ability to access these tools whenever a student is struggling with a concept will revolutionize my ability to reteach and reinforce difficult information for my students. There are endless amounts of educational technology that would become available through the tablets.
