The rug that I have chosen for my students will be the central meeting place in our classroom. It is a place where our whole class can meet, collaborate, problem solve, and take risks during our whole group instruction. Currently, our classroom has tile flooring. On cold winter days, a rug provides a cozy place for students to sit together or work independently during center time. Anytime my students are working independently or in small groups, they have the opportunity to choose where they would like to work around the room. Providing a large rug invites students to get comfortable and do their best thinking and learning on a cozy, welcoming surface.
