I teach in a K-6 public Title 1 school. Most of my students do not have access to computer or tablets, etc at home. Because of this I am really concerned with their lack of opportunity to become proficient with the use of these tools. My own kids use computers & iPad to do the majority of their work in high school. My students will not be prepared for this with what they have at home. In my classroom I have 4 older conventional computers. I also have access to 5 laptops on a daily basis. This year we will periodically be able to use iPads, too. In order to use these devices, students need quality headphones that will last. Students will use these devices to access a variety of academic web sites, research topics, publish their writing. My goal is for each of them to have daily access to these forms of technology, so that they can become more proficient in using them.
