Our classroom rug will be front and center of our classroom where students get to share many learning opportunities, and life-long memories. As the students who maybe leaving their parents for the first time ever enter the room each day the rug will foster an environment of comfort and safety for these new scholars. This space will be where the students do calendar time, learn how to build, share their feelings, sing songs, read books, use manipulative, share their thinking, and show and tell items that mean the wold to them, and these are just a few examples. The rug pattern chosen is to represent our recent accomplishment at becoming a STEM Certified school where all the students are STEM Stars! Our goal is to create a STEM environment focusing on the whole child, and allowing flexibility for every student to be successful using science, technology, engineering, and math. The other reasons for having a rug are: flexible seating, and a community building, and safe space which are so important for our kindergarten class to grow into independent, collaborative scholars.
