The 2019-2020 school year is bringing new changes. I will be getting my own classroom that is a blank slate! I have been placed in a Kindergarten room and with this adventure comes the need for things like table caddies to hold student supplies, room decorations to create an environment of tranquility, teacher organization tools, and some shelf activities to enhance our learning. I am hoping the items I receive will be used in future classrooms for many years to come. I would love to have a reading nook canopy to create a quiet center where students can go during centers to read and develop a love for books. The room I have been given has many beautiful windows and to take advantage of those I want to place light filters over the fluorescent lights to help create a more peaceful and natural environment. Some curriculum items I have found will help my students during the year track the number we are learning about and focus on the letter/sound we are learning about. I have also found many shelf activities that will enhance our center time or during the many days we are stuck inside for recess due to bad weather. As I am diving into how best to teach my new young learners I am excited to create an environment that will become a second home. As a city school classroom this room will become their second home and I want to make a safe and welcoming place where learning is FUN!
