For my project, I am looking for donations to help fund my fifth grade students to be transported by bus to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here, students will be able to observe and theorize while spending quality time in nature as students and as scientists. We will practice exploring the surrounding habitats (rivers, trails, various geological formations, etc.) as well as engaging in scientific experiments in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Humans need exposure to peaceful places; it reminds us of interconnectedness, co-existence, and the importance of exploration and discovery. Exposing students to nature and using nature as a venue for scientific discoveries allows students to walk away with further application, skills, and memories that will last a lifetime.
