Reading is an experience that is unique to each student and situation. Books and the characters found within them can help illustrate what is going on in our world in a way that makes sense to children. Picture books are a great tool to teach students valuable lessons. Not only about reading skills, but also real world events. The books I have chosen have diverse characters from all backgrounds that I know my students will feel represented by! I plan to use the books to teach lessons on kindness, compassion, work ethic, and grow mindset. These books will be placed in our classroom library, where the students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
