While my students are developing and growing as readers, they will also be growing their passion for caring for and respecting their neighbors. They will be developing an awareness of different cultures, lives, and challenges, as well so that one day they may become compassionate global citizens. While many of my students may never fly on a plane or travel to other countries, it is my hope that these books can bring these other worlds to them while still developing reading skills and growing their love of learning. Few things are as exciting to me as seeing a child's mouth drop open and say "What?!!" and be totally immersed in another world by way of a book.

About my class
