Teaching in a data-driven classroom without technology is a cumbersome task for any teacher. Learning in a classroom where technology is antiquated paves the way for the achievement gap to widen! Now think of how a student can compete in an academic environment when the tools they are using are not of the current tech trend. My students use various apps to practice arithmetic, watch demonstration videos for remediation of skills, and have interactive manipulatives that deepen their conceptual understanding. Let's even the learning field and give Baltimore City School students a chance to have the virtual education threshold at their fingertips! Innovations in mathematics education have come full circle; there are so many platforms to support the learner and allow for differentiation in the classroom to take place so every child can GROW! I want to get a complete set of iPads for our kiddos so they can have all the means necessary to excel, help me do so!
