The four carpet rugs that I am pleading for are very important to my Pre-K class. The first rug is large, bright, and fun. This rug will be used in the center of my classroom for many different purposes (nap time, morning circle, reading time). It is important that we get a new one for two reasons. First, if it is not replaced, my children will have to sit on a cold tile multiple times during the day. Secondly, this rug allows them to each find a "colored square" to sit on during group activities, entitling them each to their own personal space and helping them practice routine procedures. I refuse to let my children take a daily nap on an uninviting, inhospitable tile. The thought alone breaks my heart. They deserve the world. The next three rugs that are on my wish list are for blocks center, home living center, and library center. These areas are where my children can flourish in academics and run wild with imagination. Another functional use of the rugs is​ to help mute the sound of toys while the students work in the centers, allowing them to be respectful of the students learning in quiet spaces as well. If my children could get these new rugs it would change the entire feel of my Pre-K classroom.
