We are a Title 1 school with 100% free lunch. Students come to school with few supplies and resources. The supplies are a combination of books for guided reading and character development, manipulatives, and supplies. This year I will be trying Guided Language Acquisition and Developmebt (GLAD) with students. This will help the different ELL levels in my classroom build the background knowledge they don't have, and to make all the learning more visual and tactile. Many of the supplies will go towards making learning more interactive for the students. The books are to help students have books to use for guided reading so students can learn from whatever level they are. Lastly, I have noticed that geometry is a difficult concept for most 3rd graders. Having manipulatives students can work with will help them learn the concepts in a meaningful way.
