Flexible seating isn't about putting a couch in my classroom to make students want to sleep. Flexible seating allows students to take ownership in their seating choice and accountability in their learning. It is a step toward student independence in a classroom. Not all students learn best by sitting behind a desk in an uncomfortable chair for 7+ hours a day. Flexible seating takes out that barrier and is just one way to make the classroom environment a more engaging place. I have seen the benefits of flexible seating and can't wait to experience it in my own classroom.
