Heart Disease (including Sudden Cardiac Arrest-SCA) is the leading cause of death in the United States. SCA is often fatal because help is not administered in time. The heart has an electrical system that controls the rate and rhythm of the heartbeat. When the electrical system stops working the normal rhythm of the heart can only be restored with defibrillation, an electrical shock that is safely delivered to the chest by an automated external defibrillator (AED). Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) can be a bridge to live until an AED can be administered. Please help us offer our children the best life saving solution in a possible worse case scenario. Several staff members at our school have recently been first aid, CPR and AED certified. It was then that we realized that, while quite a few of us have our certification, we do not have an AED. Please help us achieve this very important goal in obtaining this device.
