During this time of social distancing and quarantine, art is a healthy outlet for students to express themselves. I am requesting a digital drawing tablet to be able to better provide art lessons for my students online. As of right now I am teaching my students via Zoom and am having to draw on paper and lift it to the camera after each step for students to follow along. This becomes difficult for students to go at their own pace and see the full process of drawing.With this resource I will be able to not only draw with my students in real time but also record specific art techniques we are studying. The benefit of this is that each art example created will automatically become a digital file that can be viewed at home and shared online for students to practice. An art project in particular that this tablet would be most beneficial for is the art lesson on self portraits that involves a lot of erasing and adjusting. The use of a digital tablet would aid in creating multiple drawing files that students will be able to play again and again to sharpen their drawing abilities and their creative expression. It would also help me create art lesson content more efficiently for online learning.
