High-quality literature is engaging and motivates students to read more often. Reading is thinking! By creating book sets, I will be able to share this great literature with more students through my small group reading meetings. We will address all of the Common Core reading standards using these texts. Reading and writing are reciprocal processes. Improvement in one area will also improve the other. These readers are becoming writers, too! Using high-quality​ literature for mentor texts will help these students to become stronger writers. They will see how expert writers apply literary devices and then apply their learning to their own masterpieces. Writers can change the world!
