In August our children raised over $24,000 to buy brand new books to fill the library shelves. The bookshelves are arriving on Friday. We are ready to send books home with these children, so they can become readers. It will be their first time checking out books. We would like to have 2.5 gallon ziplock bags to send the books home in to protect them from accidental spills in backpacks and coming and going to school. The bags will have the student's name and barcode, teacher's name and a note that says "Don’t forget to keep me in a safe place!! I need to be kept high and dry ... away from things such as pets, food, beverages, and yes, even cute babies. Read me, enjoy me, and return me safe and sound." The 2.5 gallon size allows for all sizes of picture books. It also has a slider to close the bag, which allows the students independence in closing the bags.
