Being new to the school, I was given the worst of the school supplies that quite frankly, no one wanted. I believe my students deserve equity and practical supplies to better their learning experience. My current classroom desks are those that have the chair and desk top all in one unit. There is not much space for the students to have more than one element on the surface at one time. A textbook and a notebook are hard to maneuver, and using a laptop with these materials is impossible. There is no storage space, and most have to put there text books and folders on the floor under their desks. They are not practical for groupings or class projects, and leave my students frustrated, but they endure. I have reached out to see if I can have the regular desks and chairs like all the other classes in the school, but there is no money in the budget to purchase new desks. My students ask if they can work on the floor so that they have space, and I am embarrassed by this, but it is the only way that they can fit all materials needed. (The floor is not carpeted.)
