This will help my students by providing classroom supplies as well as several books to pilot for the next several years. I would like to expand the curriculum and book choices available in my classes so that we can have better representation of non-western authors, particularly those from Africa and Asia, which seem to be very under-represented in most classes at most schools. I want students to be able to relate to the authors, as well as have the students be exposed to more diverse viewpoints than those that they are already exposed to in their everyday lives so that their horizons are broadened.
