Academic Foundations is a support class for students who struggle in school for various reasons. The goal of the class is to teach them foundational life and academic skills like organization, time management, how to handle test anxiety. We also cover healthy sleep hygiene, self-esteem and more. The reason having fun snacks in this class is so important is because many of these students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Having snacks that they like consistently available helps them keep energy and becomes their breakfast if there is none provided at home. Their favorite was the Nutella snacks! They felt special knowing that they are my only class out of the five that I teach who gets this privilege. I am so grateful for your generous hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1761949911286,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-academic-foundations-students-c/9664113/","projectTitle":"Help my Academic Foundations Students (class for struggling students)","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ronsheimer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10232113"},{"teacherId":10232113,"projectId":9664515,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the yoga mats!!! Every other Monday during our yoga club meetings they are used by students and staff who attend yoga. When I brought the mats to show the students, they really couldn't believe it! They were tearing off the plastic and unrolling the mats right away! They LOVE them - the thickness, the colors and the fact that they are actual yoga mats. The ones we used before belonged to the PE department and were not yoga mats, but rather thick mats for stretching. Also, they are old and so thick that balance poses are nearly impossible. Having our own mats also allows us to hold our meetings (yoga sessions) in our wellness center, The Meadow, where there is calming music, soft lighting and quiet. We used to have to meet in the small gym, which you can imagine, is not an ideally peaceful place, because that is where the \"mats\" were stored. Now they are safely kept in The Meadow in a cupboard, always wiped down before being put away. Thank you so much for the gift of wellness! We are more than grateful for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1758636622807,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-students-mental-health-with-yo/9664515/","projectTitle":"Help Our Students' Mental Health With Yoga Mats!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ronsheimer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10232113"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4795","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2262,"numTeachers":101,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":43,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":82.9,"schoolId":4795,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Homestead High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Homestead High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fremont-union-high-school-district/homestead-high-school/4795"}
