The goal of this project is to prepare students not only for the high school experience but to prepare them with life skills for the 21st century. Technology is everywhere and is transforming how we work and live. As technology becomes more complex, interdependence is created in the workplace. Technological advances are transforming the workplace of the future, however, this future needs teams coordinating their efforts with other teams. Skills in collaboration are a must if students of today are to succeed in the world of tomorrow. The ability to get along with others especially those different from oneself is the bridge to success not only in their class but in their future. In one of the class assignments, students are tasked with a group project of how communication will affect paradigms. The groups are also to identify personal growth areas to improve their communication skills after the project. A projector, screen, document camera, and microphone sound system allows the groups choices for their group projects and practice in public speaking. The resources requested for this project will enhance the technology already in place. Research shows work environments of the future will rely heavily on teamwork and collaboration. Those without cooperation and technology skills will struggle. The cooperative learning materials requested in this project are the supplemental materials I will use to support the interdependence necessary for teamwork and collaboration.
