I fondly remember one of my favorite experiences as a student - getting lost in a good book. My students love to read, but as a teacher just starting out, my books are in short supply. Throughout the school day, we have frequent structured and unstructured time for students to “get lost in a book.” I am requesting some classic novel sets as well as sets that focus on STEAM and Diversity. I will use these texts to help my students develop their critical thinking skills as well as a place for me to lead them into deep discussions about the issues these books dive into. Help me provide books that will engage and excite my 5th grade students!
