I chose these materials for my project because they will aide in creating a positive, inviting and calming environment for my students to become better readers. Studies show that blues and greens help soothe the mind and encourage positive energy and calm. I want my students to be able to step into their classroom and feel happy to be there. A specific emphasis will be placed on reading and building literacy, so I will be creating a reading corner for students to get cozy in and read a book (or listen to reading). Reading corners provide a safe and inviting space for students to feel motivated to read and relax. They can be the jump-start to a lifetime of reading for relaxation and comfort, not just as a requirement in school. Please help me give my students the chance to view reading as fun and a way to decompress while they learn!
