Starting high school is exciting, scary, and at times, a bit overwhelming. Navigating a new building, finding classes, and meeting new teachers can seem daunting to incoming freshman and trying to stay organized for each class can add even more stress to an already overwhelmed student. Imagine starting the new school year without the basic supplies to be successful. In order to reduce their stress and help my students be successful in their first year in high school, I want to present them with a binder to help keep them organized in class. Reducing their stress level, even a little bit, will help them to focus on their learning and help them to be successful. After many years of teaching, I have found that students who are organized from the beginning of the school year are more likely to come to class prepared and focused on their work which then leads to success in my class. Presenting each student with a binder at the start of the school year that contains everything they need to keep organized in my class would be beneficial to starting their high school education off on the right foot.
