My students all have special needs and are very hands on. They learn through visuals and tactile learning. They can have short attention spans and need various choices of activities to remain engaged. My classroom does very limited amounts of worksheets. My students learn more from various types of sensory input and visual stimulus. Manipulatives also help my students learn by taking abstract concepts and making them more concrete. I use various manipulatives and hands on materials to accommodate the various learning styles that my students obtain. Hands on activities are a fun way to help students remain on task and engaged in learning.
