Flexible seating gives children the power of choice and ownership over their learning. Studies show that flexible seating allows children to be more engaged in educational tasks while meeting their sensory needs. Children that are able to move are more focused learners. My classroom employs a Reggio approach, a proven method that uses self-directed, experiential education in relationship-driven environments. Flexible seating with wobble stools, ottomans, and balance balls encourages this kind of learning by having students move and interact kinetically. Please help us turn our classroom into the most dynamic, highly productive place it can be! The truth is that I had flexible seating in my former Title I school where I taught for 10 years. The flexible seating belongs to that school now because it is not for me but for the children. I know from direct experience that flexible seating is key to a productive learning environment and I want to make sure that the students at EES are given the same advantage. Thank you.
