A student operated snack cart with assistance from staff and peers will help to enhance my students' pre-vocational opportunities while building a strong community within our school. This snack cart will provide a real-life experience for my students to improve their communication skills, functional math skills, behavioral skills, and motor skills in a fun and unique manner. These skills are necessary to create career ready individuals. Our snack cart is meant to also promote inclusivity within our entire building. We are opening the minds of not only our students with special needs but society around them to the infinite possibilities of career choices they have. The work force can be an intimidating and frightful place and for students with special needs it can be even more challenging. Developing these skills at a younger age will hopefully prepare them for the career choices that lie ahead as well as instill in them the confidence to hold a meaningful job.

About my class
