My students are a super diverse, enthusiastic and eager group that attend the second largest urban public middle school in Oakland, California. Many of my students come from communities of limited economic means, and take multiple buses in the morning to get to school, while others may live around the school and come from a more affluent backgrounds. Coming from every neighborhood in Oakland, our students speak more 15 different languages in their homes. My students have tremendous enthusiasm for expressing themselves through art. Due to high demand among the student body for the visual arts, our school now offers both INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED art!!! Money for supplies is very tight and I seek funding to build out our program and enhance curriculum for our middle schoolers with your help and donations for supplies.
