As we see an increase in students coming to school with different needs, we need to be able to meet their different needs to allow them to learn. Whatever their need may be, these tools will help them regulate, be ready to learn, and stay in their learning environment. This project will allow every classroom to have a calming sensory break box accessible by all students. It will have different tools for sensory support, movement breaks, brain boosts, and relaxation. It will also help stock a sensory break space available to all students. This space will have these items, as well as a teacher, to help them learn how to identify and address their emotions and behaviors. The more tools kids have to deal with their outside environment, the more likely they will be able to thrive in an academic environment. Not all student learn the same way, and we need to be able to meet their individual needs. We are seeing an increase in behaviors associated with anger, anxiety, trauma, learning difficulties, and other basic needs. Access to calming aids and sensory tools will help students be able to address their emotion and return to learning as soon as possible.
