My project is called “We are Musicians! Literature, diversity and the elementary music classroom.” Please help me give my young musicians literature that has diverse authors, characters and content. Several of the books tell stories about children who sing, dance and play just like them! I want my students to feel connected to the characters since they represent the diversity of my students. I will also use the literature to continue to explore the elements of music such as rhythm, beat and melody. My project would benefit my entire student body which is approximately 425 students ranging from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Thank you for your time and consideration for this project.
