The spring loaded drying rack that I am hoping to acquire will allow young artists the freedom to independently access this storage area and art tool. Currently, the drying racks in the Art Studio are falling apart, get jammed, and are very difficult for students to use without help. A teacher is required to be there to open each shelf which takes away independence from these young artists. As the Art Studio is the art creation studio for these young artists, it is imperative that students can clean up, store, and create art independently. Daily, students are allowed to create artwork that will likely still be wet (in the painting, collage, or other studios). Students may wish to protect their damp artwork by allowing it to dry flat and safe on the drying rack. Having a spring loaded drying rack will allow students to clean up quickly, care for their artwork, and manage their studio well.
