The Disc Golf Sets will offer my students the opportunity to learn about physical activities other than the typical team sports. My hope is to engage those who do not gravitate toward organized sports. I love when I can pull reluctant participants into games and activities. For the students that already love team sports, this will just be a bonus for them! The excitement from my students while learning a new game is like watching kids at Christmas. Disc Golf would be a very unique game for them to learn. We would be hitting a multitude of standards just by learning the different grips and throwing techniques. As a bonus, this particular set can be used indoors on cold days and outdoors when the weather is nice. Disc Golf is an individual sport but in my class it could become a partner activity or a team activity depending on the class. Discs Golf is an activity that my students can carry with them to stay active into adulthood. Obesity is an ongoing crisis; I want to give my students opportunities to learn a wide range of games and sports now that they can participate in to stay healthy for the rest of their lives.
