These materials will give my students access to a washer and dryer to wash their school uniforms. Many of the students at our high school do not have access to these resources and are forced to use dirty uniforms to school. For that reason, students resort to borrowing clean uniforms from the school or refusing to follow school rules leading to consequences that prevent them from being in the classroom. Students are required to return borrowed uniforms at the end of the day and reborrow them the next day if they want a clean one. Towards the end of our school year, many students had obligations for unreturned uniforms and the school eventually ran out of uniforms to lend out. Through this project, my students will have access to clean uniforms daily. This will eliminate the need for students to borrow uniforms from the school. It will give students who cannot afford this privilege one less thing to worry about and one more reason to come to school.
