The need for built-in microphones in order to improve and self-monitor pronunciation in a new language is clear as we move forward with new technology and the capabilities of that technology. Built-in microphones allow students to take ownership of their language learning and monitor and assess their own progress toward fluency. My students often need to be able to record their voices to improve their tone, delivery, attention to audience, intonation and inflection, and clarity of message. Learning with the Internet is an integral part of learning a second language. Thank you for giving them a voice that they can develop, be proud of, and look back on throughout their lives.
