In my classroom, we live by the motto “different kids have different needs.” Teaching student with various disabilities, this statement couldn’t be more true! Flexible seating in the classroom would optimize student performance by allowing my students to personalize their learning experience to match their unique needs. Options such as wobble stools, balance balls, and wobble cushions would create a more individualized learning environment for my wonderfully diverse (and deserving!) students. I have also included a set of light filters in my project to help prevent some of the harsh glare fluorescent lights in the classroom can produce. Although it is not flexible seating, light filters would benefit students who have sensory needs in my classroom and accommodate their needs.
