As we experimented with flexible seating this year, my students embraced the choice of sitting as they made the decisions where to sit and with whom to sit with. This empowered their learning as they had ownership in their learning environment. Flexible or alternative seating kept my students stayed focused on their learning and task ahead, therefore I would like to expand my classroom environment. Flexible seating foster a more collaborative and student centered learning. I myself, use the different options of flexible seating when working with a small group or individual student. Allowing students to choose gives them more classroom ownership, as well.
