Play is the key to physical, mental, intellectual and social well being of children. It hugely impacts the developmental aspect of children’s lives holistically. Persistence Preparatory Academy Charter School is a brand-new school in Buffalo, New York. We currently have two kindergarten and two first grade classes. Our school day is from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm but our students do not leave school until 4:45 PM because of busing issues. Our scholars spend almost 9 ½ hours every day at school and we do not have a playground. For many children, school play time is the most active part of their day. Therefore, outdoor equipment and school playtime are vitally important to children for their fun and relaxation as well as good health and well-being. School playgrounds play an important role in their daily life for fulfilling their interest, development, and learning needs. It is critical that my scholars have the opportunity to play outside using different equipment. My scholars would benefit from outside equipment socially, emotionally, and physically. This equipment would help my scholars release energy and stay more focused in the classroom.
